New Library Signs

This is my third year in the library.  My first year I was trying to get a feel for everything.  My second year was hectic with a lot of scheduling issues and last minute coverages.  This year, I finally feel like I have time to update some things in the library that need to be updated.  One of which is the signage, or lack thereof.  What I have also noticed a lack of is available signs for purchase or to get inspiration from online.

I decided to start with the Picture Book section.  Using Canva, I created a few different signs but I couldn't choose which one I liked the best.  Actually, that's not true.  I had a favorite but I wasn't sure it would catch the students' attention.  So, I decided to informally poll the students and teachers who came to the library.  Here are the different signs I made (one I didn't take a picture of because I disliked it immediately):

And the winner is....

The students overwhelmingly chose #3.  I fixed the border so it ran around the perimeter of the words.  I am so fortunate to have a poster machine in my library so that I can make things like this on the spot.

Which one is your favorite?

Teachers Pay Teachers Sale...Already?!

Teachers Pay Teachers is already having their Back to School Sale!  I live in NY so I teach until the very end of June and start back up again in September.  I am not ready to see "back to school" anything, but here it is.

Download for Facebook - 740 × 400

For those of you who are already heading back, or for those who are getting a head start for September, you might want to check out the sale and can click HERE for my store.  I have a range of mostly reading and writing activities for elementary school and I am going to start uploading some things that I am working on for the upcoming school year.  If you do purchase a product (even if it's not from my store) I would love if you could link to it in the comments below so others can see what's available!

It's Been a Long Time (Again)

It has been awhile since my last post.  Last year I transitioned from the classroom to the library and am in the same school which I have been working at for over 20 years (which is really hard to wrap my head around).  I am so glad that I made the change and love my new position.

Pre-K Students Loved Reading Time!

Now that I am in the library, I am trying to make it as welcoming as possible.  It was closed for 1 1/2 years and prior to that the librarian did not update a lot.  Last year I completed the first inventory in over 10 years, was awarded a grant to purchase new books, and started weeding, but the overall environment needs some work. I would appreciate if any one who might be reading this to click HERE to check out my latest DonorsChoose project.  Even if you cannot donate, I would appreciate if you would share on social media.  Also, if you have your own DonorsChoose project please share it in the comments.  Let's all help each other!
